I have been a Beacon member since 2017 and am a newly elected member of the Board of Trustees. I am also the husband of Allyson Murphy, one of our fabulous Our Whole Lives facilitators and the very proud dad of Callum and Sean, who have both participated in our youth programs.

There’s so much that no one tells you before you have kids. One example of this I’ve been thinking about a lot lately is that everything you take for granted, kids have to learn. And someone has to teach them! How to walk. How to tie their shoes. How to find their shoes so they can tie them and walk out the door so they don’t miss the bus to school. Obviously, these aren’t the most important things our kids need to learn -- not even close. As a dad, I think all the time about helping my boys learn to be good people, to know right from wrong and to do the little things and big things that can help heal this world. On this Father’s Day, I am profoundly grateful to this community. Beacon has played such a huge part in teaching them – and me – values that will sustain us for a lifetime.
